Charlevoix Chalet Rental
Inspiration Chalet Charlevoix
The many charming appeals of Petite-Rivière-Saint-François inspired numbers of artists. You will find many local artists and painters who exhibit their art in this beautiful region of Charlevoix. To my pure delight, Louise Kirouac painted with much fidelity “La Maison du Quai”. This little house, between mountains and tides had inspired this artist from Quebec. Louise Kirouac paints countryside, villages and mostly the architecture that is unique to Quebec’s houses, while detailing elements of yesteryear. She contributes in preserving and developing Quebec’s heritage. One of her paintings, called “Petite-Rivière-St-François”, is currently in “The Scott Gallery” museum, in Edmonton, Alberta.
Louis Kirouac is born in a family of artists: a father, actor, born in Bretagne and, two brothers, both painters, whose oldest, Tex Lecor, introduced her to painting.
Also charmed by Charlevoix, Gabrielle Roy, a famous writer, had chosen Petite-Rivière-Saint-François as her favorite location for her summerhouse.
She spent numbers of years over here, enjoying long walks along the railroad. It is here that she found inspiration for most of her books. Gabrielle Roy talks about her stay in Petite-Rivière-St-François in a magnificent book called: Cet été qui chantait. You will be able to visit her house as well as other expositions along the Circuit of Religious Heritage. Her name has even been given to the library of the village.
It is at the Chapelle Maillard, the tourist information center, where you will first need to call at before going along the discovery of this enchanting village.
